چکیده

Belief change scenarios have been introduced as a framework for expressing different forms of belief change. The essential idea is that for a belief change scenario (K;R;C) the set of formulas K, representing the knowledge base, is modified so that the sets of formulas R and C are respectively true in, and consistent with, the result. By restricting the form of a belief change scenario one obtains specific belief change operators including belief revision, contraction, update, and merging. In this paper, we show how the belief revision and belief contraction operators can be axiomatised by means of quantified Boolean formulas. Basically for both the general approach and for specific operators, we give a quantified Boolean formula such that satisfying truth assignments to the free variables correspond to belief change extensions in the original approach. Hence, in this paper we reduce the problem of determining the results of a belief change operation to that of satisfiability. This approach has several benefits. First, it furnishes an axiomatic specification of belief change with respect to belief change scenarios. This alternative characterisation then leads to further insight into the belief change framework. Second, this axiomatisation allows us to identify strict complexity bounds for the considered reasoning tasks. Finally, we obtain an implementation of different forms of belief change by appeal to existing solvers for quantified Boolean formulas. 1School of Computing Science Simon Fraser University Burnaby, B.C., Canada V5A 1S6 E-mail: [email protected] 2Institut für Informatik, Universität Potsdam Postfach 90 03 27, D–14439 Potsdam, Germany. On Computing Belief Change Operations using Quantified Boolean Formulas

In this paper, we show how an approach to belief revision and belief contraction can be axiomatised by means of quantified Boolean formulas. Specifically, we consider the approach of belief change scenarios, a general framework that has been introduced for expressing different forms of belief change. The essential idea is that for a belief change scenario (K, R, C), the set of formulas K, repre...

A survey on impact of cloud computing security challenges on NFV infrastructure and risks mitigation solutions

Increased broadband data rate for end users and the cost of resource provisioning to an agreed SLA in telecom service providers, are forcing operators in order to adhere to employment Virtual Network Functions (VNF) in an NFV solution. The newly 5G mobile telecom technology is also based on NFV and Software Define Network (SDN) which inherit opportunities and threats of such constructs. Thus a ...

Prediction of Prediction of Climate Change Impacts on Kharkeh Dam Reservoir Inflows with Using of CMIP5-RCP Scenarios

The objective of this research was to investigate the effects of climate change on precipitation and temperature parameters of Karkheh Basin and inflow to Karkheh dam reservoir. This was conducted by applying 21 GCM models under CMIP5 scenarios. The error indices of R2, RMSE and MAE models with the observed precipitation and temperature data were examined to find the appropriate GCM model, MRI-...

Exact and approximate solutions of fuzzy LR linear systems: New algorithms using a least squares model and the ABS approach

We present a methodology for characterization and an approach for computing the solutions of fuzzy linear systems with LR fuzzy variables. As solutions, notions of exact and approximate solutions are considered. We transform the fuzzy linear system into a corresponding linear crisp system and a constrained least squares problem. If the corresponding crisp system is incompatible, then the fuzzy ...

Uncertainty Investigation of Precipitation and Temperature Scenarios for the Sira Basin under Climate Change Impact

Results of assessment of the future climate change impacts is associated with some uncertainties. Considering the range of uncertainties increases reliability of the results. In this study, climate change impacts on daily precipitation, maximum and minimum temperature of Sira basin are assessed using LARS-WG model, for 2036-65 period. Accordingly, uncertainty of new emissions scenarios (RCP2.6،...
